One of my coworkers will be a freshman at Auburn here in a month. She was asking me about stuff she'd need for dorm life, and I was trying to come up with as many of the small items that tend to get overlooked, but tend to be essential every once in a while. Can anybody think of vital things needed for dorm life?

a hook to hang towels and loofah on
shower caddy
your favorite book
hangers
depending on availability of a grocery store... hot chocolate, popcorn, cashews, pop tarts and other snacky foods
laundry bag
dry-erase board (preferably magnetic)
roll of quarters (for laundry)
lots of pencils/pens
small trash can
desk lamp (possibly a standing lamp, depending on how dark the dorm is. i have one that screws apart into six pieces, so it packs better.)
sticky tack/push pins
paper clips
stapler
coffee mug
silverware & microwavable bowls (plates are unnecessary)
extension cords/power strip
fan (oscilating ones are fun)
a bath mat (i have one that looks like a duck)

so that's all that a group of knowledgable pepperdinian minds could come up with in ten minutes. i hope you're doing well. i miss you.
