Because writing has been hard lately and I really needed some cheering up, I will share with all of you this truly amazing review Faren Miller just did of Racing the Dark and The Burning City in the August issue of Locus. Here's some excerpts, with a pre-emptive squee!!!!

Alaya Dawn Johnson’s Racing the Dark (opener of the Spirit Binders trilogy) ( Read more... )

Congratulations - that's so awesome!

On the flip side of the Alaya Bookshelf, I gave a friend of mine Moonshine as a gift this Wednesday night; she didn't go home until 11 or so. She texted me Thusday afternoon to say that she'd already finished it and loved it.

I am so happy that you have been able to realize your dreams. Although I read Racing the Dark, it really wasn't my cup of tea. I'm not really an all out fantasy gal. However, I loved Moonshine and have since gifted it to a young writer friend of mine who seems very interested in it.

It is so much fun to have seen your progress through the years from fanfic to being an honest-to-god published author. Kudos!
