What to do with ARCs?

So I just got ten advanced reading copies of Wicked City (sequel to Moonshine) and I'm wondering what I should do with them. Right now they are sitting around my kitchen, which is lovely when I get a drink of water, but not, I suspect, particularly useful. I was thinking of maybe some kind of giveaway? But I don't really know, and it's not like ( Read more... )

Are you on Goodreads? They often have book giveaways. You could offer some ARCs to various book reviewers to give away for you. You could run a "contest" that gives people "points" for Tweeting, blogging, Facebooking, etc. info about the book and/or contest. You could simply do a random contest via Twitter. (Nora has done some interesting Twitter giveaways lately, so you might check with her.) You could give me one.

Yeah, I think I will do Goodreads and twitter. And if I have some left over ;)

Perhaps give away an autographed copy on Goodreads? Thousands of people sign up to win those books and add them to their To Be Read list. They'd read MOONSHINE if they haven't already and buy WICKED CITY regardless of whether or not they win. I can't tell you how many books I've bought after seeing them as a Goodreads giveaway. I purchased at least two as ebooks within the last month!

You could also do a giveaway where you get extra points for following you on LJ/Goodreads/Facebook/Twitter/etc. and extra entry points for tweeting the link/blogging about the contest etc. Even more exposure! I don't know if it works on LJ, but I've considered using the new rafflecopter form that all the other book bloggers are using for my next giveaway. It seems pretty streamlined. If it also works here, of course!

Good luck! :)

Yeah, the Goodreads thing I will definitely do, though first I will see if my publisher will foot the shipping bill ;)

But I hadn't thought about using twitter for a giveaway. Much better idea than LJ, since I actually have people following me over there.

Thanks!
