#Unitarians a #cult ? @ColbertReport

Stephen Colbert reported tonight that Billy Graham has Unitarians on a list of cults. I know Unitarian Universalism is too long to say (or list), just like The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which is the official name of Mormons (now Unitarian Universalism doesn't sound so long, does it?). Colbert also said that Graham's definition of a "cult" was any group that went beyond the Old and New Testaments and incorporated later revelations. So, by that definition, we do belong with the Mormons and the Scientologists, because we allow continued revelation and further sources of truth.

But, obviously, Graham doesn't know what a cult really is.

That's true IF Graham used the correct definition for the word "cult". You're right, Graham doesn't know what a cult is and by his definition any non-Christian religion would be a cult. We were discussing this in another forum about how Unitarians (1908) and Universalists (in the 1940s) were refused membership in the Federal Council of Churches, so we haven't been considered a Christian religion since then ( ... )
