An interesting article, and certainly if Putin follows through then we can expect to see some major changes in the balance of world power. The thing that I wonder about, though, is how the people at the PftNAC didn't see this coming. Surely it was obvious to them that invading Iraq was nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction, and one which would lead to an increase in hostility towards the US, potentially leading to exactly the situation described here? Either they really are very stupid/arrogant, or they knew it would happen and have reasons for wanting it to ( ... )

I know. My friend just came back from Florida and the information they get from the media has nothing of substance to it. No policy details just name calling and finger pointing With most of the US still living without easy access to foreign media or the interenet most of them are voting just for the one who calls the best names. Add the corruption of the voting system then it turns out to be a complete sham. It's interesting to note that the more technologically advanced states all are in the Kerry camp.

I totally agree with you on the anti US thing. The US has never been a good platform to base the new world order from. They are in a complete mess financially, technologically and socially. What better way to galvanise the rest of the word and a united Europe than to turn the world against the US and bolster the Euro. It all does seem a little convenient doesn't it?

Of course this explanation could be the real reason things are happening the way they are. ;)

Very interesting indeed...Russia could win the cold war yet...Gordons tests could suddenly be overridden...all bets for the middle east would be off...Interesting times....

It would completely change the political and financial landscape of the world. I just hope we haven't tied our boat to securely to the US.

As long as we have a duplicitous, scheming, opportunist bastard as a PM (& it looks like that covers all posssible candidates), I suspect we'll be able to jump ship & drag ourselves up the beaches of Europe, waving the blue starry flag & whistling 'Ode to Joy', and pitch our tents there as if we'd been there all along.

He'd probably get away with if it wasn't for those pesky kids, ;) I expect you are right, though Tony doesn't seem to have made many friends in the European Union.
