I have to say, I think this concept is a load of bollocks. Surely it's blindingly obvious that if you eat pretty much anything exclusively for a month it's going to make you ill. Fish and chips, curry, burgers, KFC, whatever. I'll bet you'll end up with serious protein deficiencies if you only ate fruit for a month. Limit a vegetarian menu to cut out spinach and (IIRC) pulses then you'll not get enough iron. Some whatever-only diets will be worse then others, but the problem remains. It's a no-brainer.
It shouldn't put you off fast food as long as, like everything else, you eat it in moderation.
I hear what you are saying Mat. Cutting any food group out is not going to do you any good. The Atkins diet is pretty bad for you even though it might work at keeping the weight off. If you cut out anything for an extended period of time it will do you no good, but eating McDonalds does not really exclude any of the major food groups. He started with a well above average health profile. The doctors expected his collesterol to go up a bit and for him to put on a bit of weight. Within 3 days he was addicted, feeling depressed and had no sex drive, within 3 weeks the doctors were saying he had a high risk of his liver packing up, and they feared for his life. If they didn't know better he had the liver profile of a lifelong alcoholic. It is a bit different from just feeling a bit off colour from excluding fruit, or protein. In fact Lorraine ate fruit for the first time on almost a year the other day and although her health hasn't been too great it hasn't been because of lack of fruit. It is not the exclusion of any of the food groups
