.....here's a different perspective on the dangers of eating salt, and by salt I believe they mean real sea or rock salt rather than industry produced table salt. It is written by the President of the American Institute of Stress so someone who should be in the know.

I read an article recently that a group here are lobbying the FDA to consider sodium as a food additive, which would mean amounts of it in food products could be regulated - restaurants and food manufacturers would be limited in how much sodium they could add to food.

While it's a fair point that eating extreme amounts of anything probably isn't a good idea, it seems ridiculous to limit what people can choose to eat... especially if it's true that the beliefs about salt are incorrect.

Once again, it looks like moderation is the key. I doubt consuming large amounts of salt is good for anyone, but then neither is cutting it out.

My father stopped salting his food a while ago because of the warnings, and then wondered why he kept fainting whenever it was hot. His sodium levels had dropped so low that he was no longer sweating...
