i hope the estate agent does have pics, i know a lot of places do give you photos of all the rooms so you never know.
as a side thought, how much does a valuation cost? if you do go down te court route, can you get a valuer to say "well it was worth x but after the changes he has made it worth x-FAR TOO FING MUCH!" then settle for differnce in cost, and buy some nice doors and bath.
Spoke to Mel it seems check the details from the estate agent carefully if it it doesn't specify the particulars it gets worse, but also check and re-check the Solicitors docs again for specifics, last is Survey (If you got one) once again for specifics. If it's on the details and it's not there you can claim for it. For instance is there still a shower if not and it's on the details bingo.
Sorry for this though, not what you want for the first time buyer...
