I've just lost my job. Apparently the DVLA was looking for someone on a more permanent contract and was tendering for CV's and my agency didn't include mine so they assumed I wasn't interested.

this is like fro a comedy or something. I keep expecting beedle to jump out any minute.

sorry to hear you havign so much poop happening to you.
btw if you think IT in UK is flat, i can tell you that in Dusseldorf we have plenty of SAP jobs. I get emails everyday. So if you fancy changing everythign completely and getting away from it all.

Thanks Rox, I need a couple of weeks to sort my head out before I can even contemplate trying to find another job. I have a flat in Swansea and all the bills to sort out and pretty similar things to do at home as well. It is all a bit bewildering.

Sorry to hear about that mate, I know from experience how fickle the contract market can be - thats why I went permanent. However skills such as yours are always in high demand so am sure you'll land on your feet soon.

Sorry to hear about the breakup with Lorraine btw.

Thanks. I'll find something once I put my mind to it. It won't be close to home unfortunately but at least it will keep the mortgage paid.

Thanks mate. It is all a bit bewildering at the moment. I'll start putting my mind to the CV and work next week once my jumbled thoughts start getting back to an even keel.

Been away for the past week, so just read your posts - you really have my sympathy, talk about being kicked while you're down.

Wish there was anything I could do to help... not sure exactly where your IT skills lie though, and in any case, I'm up in the grim north working in a department that's been culling contractors. >_o One thing I can say though - not all industries are being affected by the recession. I work for a utilities company, and we've just had record profits. I've just been given a significant bonus and raise in the last few months, and the company as a whole seems to be growing in size. If your experience lets you, not a bad industry to be in at a time like this.

I guess my job description is SAP Basis or SAP Netweaver technology consultant. SAP is a popular skill, just not in Bristol and not much in the UK just now and I'm not quite ready to leave behind all my friends at the moment. Its hard enough losing the biggest part of your support network. I'm sure that eventually Lorraine and I will become friends. Looking back over your LJ. I'm sorry to hear that You and ollie have parted. It made me sad to hear but I guess if it was the right thing to do then it was for the best.

Stay in touch.

Ian

Hi Lil,

It was really lovely to see you last night. I had a really good time despite everything. I'll be up for another boozy evening sometime soon if you fancy it. G'n'T at the ready :-)
