UW's website has a new look

OMG < insert website here > changed their layout, let's make a (group | community | fan page) to protest.

No, it's not really like that, I'm quite open-minded about websites updating their design in tune with the trends of the time, but I'm pretty baffled by the change made to UW's website. I think they used a variation of a commonly utilized CSS ( Read more... )

I'd laugh if somehow this turned somebody away from the school.

As someone who has no programming experience (unless my HTML geocities page in junior high counts...), I think it looks quite nice. It's not laggy for me and the menu size doesn't seem unreasonable. The pictures to the right of each menu might be a bit much, but I don't have a strong opinion on them either way.
Of course it wasn't necessary, but at least someone was employed for it!

I think it's a good redesign. The footer is fantastic, quick blurbs, you can get to so many places in the UW website with just two clicks, fixed width is okay but the design is such that it doesn't feel that cramped (look at the school of dentistry website).. the previous website was a monstrosity.
