it's russell tanenbaum. Do you know if he's a good or bad teacher? I can't find him on ratemyprofs. I just emailed him so hopefully he'll get back to me soon.

Hey, I'm also in that class! I'm a linguistics major too . . . I think I will see you there? I wonder the same thing about the book; kinda scared because I think he is only a grad student? Says on the Linguistics department site he's interested in Chinese syntax.

Yeah, your best bet would be to ask Russell himself. Usually the changes are minor. Sometimes professors will allow it, provided that you double check that the required readings are the same.

If for some reason he doesn't agree to that, consider getting a used. Try the Book Kennel across the street from the main UBookstore. I think the LING Dept. just started using the book in Winter quarter. The book is definitely used in the summer LING 400 class. So someone out there is bound to want to get a copy of their hands.

Also, I had Russell in one of my classes, though I only spoke to him once or twice. But he seems to be a very nice guy.
