Does anyone know of a quick way to purge the @uwaterloo.ca email account of junk mail? I'm a returning student and would like to be able to use this address again, but the spam is driving me crazy and Blacklisting hasn't helped much. Just forward it too to your gmail account. That's what I did when I was a student and that's how I still receive emails from the university because I haven't gotten around to setting up an @alumni address.

Thanks. I'm a little concerned about doing this, because my gmail account will get swamped with the spam that my uwaterloo address is getting.

Not if it's spam-spam - Gmail will count it as spam and you won't see it.

If you're using the mailservices email account, you can log in to the Squirrelmail interface https://mailservices.uwaterloo.ca/webmail/src/login.php then pick Filters from the top menu, Add a New SPAM Rule, tune it however you like, and choose STOP.

Put this rule ahead of forwarding the rest of your email to Gmail and you'll leave a lot of your junk mail behind on the UW Waterloo server -- check it once in a while to make sure you're not missing anything important that was marked incorrectly as spam -- leaving the bulk of what gets sent to your Gmail account as at least theoretically useful mail.
