Sick

Sick for the second time in as many weeks. The first barrage of germs must've knocked out my immune system and let in bacteria which are causing havoc with my insides. You'd love the canadian health care system. It's virtually free (unless A. you dont have health insurance or, B. get non-generic brand drugs).

insurance works out to be about 250$ a quarter, or if you're lucky and you're married then you can get on your university-student-spouse's dirt cheap medical and get things like free massages etc.

Getting sick in the UK sucks. Getting sick in canada is 'an experience' ;)

Yeah I've heard some pretty good things about the Canadian system. Not sure if I agree with free massages (or gender-changing operations, in another example), but it's gotta beat choosing between $1500 or waiting for months to get a 10 minute CAT scan...

Would be interested to figure out how the Canadians manage to give such good care. Is tax really high or something?

Everyone pays health insurance premiums unless you're unemployed or on a fully private plan (those are the ones with the massages).

Lots of people complain about the premiums (i sure dont, i've had about 4k of medical treatment since i moved here).

and then they get ill. and they stop complaining ;)
