I don't quite know what to think of this. Or this.

Here's the gallery's defense. PETA thinks she's mentally deranged.

I guess my animal rights activist, vegetarian self says "fuck no."

But the artist in me says it's amazing.

...

I think I had just about the worst timing in the world in taking my intro to poetry class this semester.

I love the lyrics to that song but I absolutely hate the song itself. I don't know why, it fucking annoys me. It's the only Bright Eyes song I can think of that I don't like.

SPEAKING OF BRIGHT EYES! THE 18th! FUCK YEAH!

Fuck yeah! :D I've been listening to them a lot lately.

And I was going to say that I disagree with you, but then I realize that really I mainly pay attention to the lyrics whenever that song comes on.

It makes me happy that you share my love for those lyrics though.

Wow, I don't know how to respond to that art either, honestly. It's so beautiful but in such a disturbing way. Like you, my morals say "what the hell was she thinking?" however the art historian in me just can't agree with that... I guess it's just a very poignant way of showing how art can shake things up a lot, and how it can often speak volumes on our society. I really like this question/answer from the interview:

Q: Blood is one of the attributes of death. We do not see it in your images, they seem so serene and innocent in a way; is there a reason for that?
A: Western society tries to keep a clean fasade while it is ugly and grim on the inside, the complete opposite to Russia.

I dunno...

Yeah, like, as much as I'm not a fan of the medium/subject she chose, I can't deny the power of the pieces, and I certainly can't deny my love for the complexity and beauty of the pieces. They are beautiful, and that is perhaps the scariest thing about them.

that is really fucking nasty... art or no art, the artist decided that their project was more important than the lives of those animals.
