I hate to say it but I'm beginning not to love AsuCaga. And its not because I believe they won't make it. I have 99% faith they'll make it through Destiny. The way the writers have messed with Athrun's character disgusts me to the point I don't think I can be happy anymore even if they get together in the end. Everytime they're together I'll just remember what a b!tch Athrun was and I'll feel resentful towards him. Cause I really feel he doesn't deserve Caga's love right now. (In fact, a part of me is shipping her with Rey and Auel for no reason XD)
He essentially proposes to the girl and then LEAVES her to go to PLANT during a really difficult time for her. And then he re-enlists ZAFT without even a WORD to Caga. Wtf. And I understand why he went back to PLANT, but he could've done that at a better time. And he has absolutely no right to lash out at Caga like that and say she could've prevented that treaty, because, well, he SAW what she was going through and yet he still left her to fend for herself in such a messy political situation. And the way he yelled at Kira and left Cagalli standing there in ep 25 made me want to SMACK him silly. Wth kind of goodbye was that?! >_<
And when he was yelling at Kira, saying how Kira had killed so many people, does he not realize himself that HE's killed so many people, including Tolle, who *ahem* is the deceased boyfriend of the girl standing right there with him (Milliaria). He was being a hypocrite and displayed no tact at all. He needs to undergo some SERIOUS redemption if I'm going to ever like him again. And right now it doesn't seem he's going to get it, given the pathetic situation he was thrown in (stupid love weird shape..thing >O) His character hasn't truly progressed from SEED, in fact it seems it has regressed and will only continue to do so if he doesn't get his act together.
I understand all relationships have their ups and downs, but did they really have to make Athrun go and become a complete bitch about everything? Its sickening what they're doing to his character. Caga, too, although I can actually feel sympathy for her whereas for Athrun I have no love for at all right now. The poor girl has NOT had a real smile on her face throughout the entire series except when Athrun gave her that ring. And look at what Athrun did. He went and left her side. @#!$%
And she's had so many characters and fans alike jump down her throat for decisions she's only made for the good of her country (including her own so-called boyfriend!). Really, can't they give her a break at ALL? And then there are those rumors Impulse is going to attack Strike Rouge. WTF. They give her the opportunity to shine and kick ass and then they waste it by having her get shot down! And rumours are that Lacus is going to go Wonder Woman again and be the ultimate one to help achieve a lasting peace. And as much as I love her and how she ran the Clyne Faction in SEED, can we PLEASE give somebody else sometime to shine in politics? Like, say, poor Caga? >< I mean, I *want* Lacus to get off her ass and do something, but I don't want her to play the role of the saintly saviour.
And do they really have to take this Asuran/Meyrin/Lunamaria/Meer thing so far? Its got no depth to it at this point, at least not compared with Kira/Fllay in SEED. Kira and Fllay, while it was a ill-fated relationship from the start, was meaningful and had at least *some* part to get the storyline moving along. This whatever shape love thing it is has not had any part to play in the plot whatsoever (if you can call GSD's story a plot) except to provide [attempted] humour. And Kira/Fllay was already fleshed out by the time the 25-28 eps rolled around. This love shape has NOT been fleshed out at ALL, and indeed it is not only messy but pointless as well. They are also doing a disservice to all the characters involved.
And WHAT IS WITH THE SEMI-NEKKID CAGALLI SHOT IN THE OP?! *wants to kill someone* Its like she's only being used for eyecandy! She deserves so much more than how the writers have treated her in GSD. She was such a strong, wonderful character in SEED, and I still believe she has that strength in her, but she hasn't shown it. And its already halfway in this series and she has YET to act like her old self again. And halfway into this series people are still hampering her for her misguided decisions. Cut her a break people, its not easy running a country, especially if you've had very little experience doing it! Grr.
