So I just recieved an apologetic rejection letter in response to a query of "Did you recieve this?" Apparently the editor thought he'd rejected it a month ago. That's not the headdesk part

Proving yet again that you can't please everybody. *blows raspberry at publishers in general*
There is no secret to getting published. Every one of them wants something different.
In my own little world, the anthology my writer's group was going to have published has fallen through. The publishers who made the offer to us never actually got it together. We have now sent the letter requesting politely that they return our manuscripts, since it's now been over a year since we signed the contract and they have done nothing. *sigh*
I think the secret is "Seek to be published when everyone has plenty of money." Publishers who are going down for the third time don't want to take chances, or can't, or will but the thing never actually makes it to press. That doesn't help!
