That Darned House

Well, we have the carpet out of 1 1/2 of the 4 rooms that need it gone.  The bathroom floor is regrouted, which was relatively little work for a beautifully noticeable result.  I may even post the before-after picture one of these days.  I love projects where I can tell where I've been ( Read more... )

Slow but sure progress on the house! And I would love to see before and after pictures.

And I think cream with reddish-brown, or perhaps cream with forest-green trim, would look wonderful.

Go ahead and name the house! That's such a great old tradition. And you do, indeed, have both the dogwoods and the dogs. What could be better?

Absolutely nothing wrong with naming your house. By the sounds, the name suits it. Isn't it amazing how just a little bit of work changes hhow things look? I've discovered.

I wish you luck in getting rid of the horrible rodents. They could make good target practice though. Just a thought. *grins*

There's nothing pompous about naming your house, it just doesn't happen enough in America. A large percentage of houses (ones that aren't in clone-estates, anyway) here have names with plaques and everything. I saw one in Dublin named Rivendell; it made me smile.

As to rats being the poison ivy of the animal world. >.> Wild rats. Wild rats are. Domesticated rats are clean and intelligent and make wonderful pets.

But wild rats, yes. The thought of them on the premises is actually frightening :/ Hope you solve that problem.

I don't see why you shouldn't name your house. And I like the name you've chosen. It sounds like you're having fun with the results of the renovations, anyway, good luck with the unpleasant bits. (and with the fics!)

By the way, don't burn the poison ivy. People with allergies to poison ivy/oak can end up in the hospital (or worse) from breathing the smoke. You probably knew that, but I thought I'd put it here as a public service announcement, or something.
