"At least give me an 'at least.'"

At least the muse is back.  The Ichabod muse, that is, the difficult one who has a novel or two handy if I can just figure out the sensible order of events.  He seems to want me to try the "amnesiac protagonist" trope this time.  It might even work.

I just wish that he, like Severus, were NOT driven by the clocks of Britain.  This is inconvenient to ( Read more... )

Hm. I have a hard time reconciling SPEW with journalistic reviews. >.> From the inside, that is. But I also know the connotations carried with the phrase "SPEW Review" when used outside of SPEW.

But SPEW reviews resemble SBBC posts. The main difference is that SBBC discusses it together, and SPEWers post it in review form. Comparable to difference between a class discussion and a critical theory essay submitted directly to the author.

That said, I still think you found the best place for SPEW in your parallels ;) It just didn't fit for me at first.

I also don't think that any group seese any other group as unneccessary. Not that I've heard myself.

Of course, I may also be dreadfully out of date. Last time I looked in on SPEW or had a clearly-SPEW review, it was in the vein of the TLS or something for fanfiction (and in fact, if people wanted to make a newsletter of the reviews so they were all in one place, perhaps on a blog somewhere, that might not be a bad idea). There have been more story swaps and things since then, maybe, or perhaps I just hear about them more often, and SPEW itself may have moved a bit. But that seemed to be the best fit I was going to get out of the RL publishing world as I understand it ( ... )

I don't think I've ever actually read a TLS review. >.> But, then again, only on rare occasions do I read any kind of review for anything.

As far as Hogwarts is concerned, participation in any one Hogwarts class qualifies as a review replacement. (That is, they only have to do three, rather than four.) So, at SPEW, at least, we recognise the worth of Hogwarts. ;)

"Amnesiac protagonist"? Ichabod is going to develop amnesia? Is this magically induced amnesia? Now I'm curious!

And hey, at least your muse visits. Even 3 a.m. is better than not at all. I keep wondering where my muse has gone. Maybe she's wandering about in a parallel universe and doesn't want to come back.

Muses are peculiar creatures, aren't they? This one only speaks up if there's a blank page in front of me, and if I don't make special arrangements for that, well, 3 am it is.

Ichabod turns himself into an animal. In my magical system there's nothing all that unusual about this; every magic-user has an animal form. However, he doesn't leave the form when he ought to, and he basically forgets being human until he is forced to change back. Once back, he's more than a little befuddled. Even before this, there were some good swathes of his memories that he didn't much care to look at, and now he's currently working on remembering little things like talking, using a fork, and doing laundry. Never mind remembering that he can do magic. He does have the vague feeling he might want to avoid the police.
