I just have to say first -- good parenting IS being a friend; it's just being that friend that always knows what's right but still manages to fit in. It's very Happy Days, I know, but still. Cool people aren't always the bad people. Being a good parent only requires "knowing what's right" and "knowing what's cool." Hopefully they're both transmitted accordingly.

in other news, though...

if you can prove both A and B of the following section, you can nail these people. Not break them down, mind you, because they are doing good work, but at least make them accept non-Christian members (which I have to warn, is against EVERY EXISTING MEMBER'S WISHES, and so... yeah. Stay the fuck away for a while.).

A: show [fill in official agency here] that IJM is something above and beyond the relatively tame term of "biased," and (most importantly) prove that the email is real. If you still have the official email, that's a plus. Some sort of spy-rooting-mumbo-jumbo might go in your favor, even for just this once ( ... )

i like to think of "good parenting" (whatever that is, cuz honestly, who the fuck knows) as a happy medium between friendship + actual parenting. i wasn't trying to harp on my dad, i was just saying that instead of combining the 2, each of my parents got one of the 2 sides...good-cop-bad-cop, if you will. but i turned out okay, so i guess they did something right, eh? haha ( ... )

that's fucking ridiculous. you're probably right about them being able to do whatever they want because they're a private organization, but that's so stupid and hypocritical...and seriously, how are they helping themselves or the people they're trying to help by turning down people who want to work for them based on something like that? bah. I'm angry on your behalf too...you'll be great at this kind of thing anyway though, your dad is right.
