Glancing over the past couple of entries I've written, I have to laugh. I get so melodramatic when I have a pen (metaphorically) and an audience. I'd actually forgotten about this place for a bit, until a couple of dreams inspired me to write something, just for the hell of it

Have you ever read Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man? Re the black man in the manhole.
A couple days ago I read that fencing has associations with magic, I think through Rabelais(?). Do you know anything about that?

As far as Rabelais goes, I've never heard of him having anything to do with fencing, though given the number of topics he was interested in, I wouldn't doubt if he had some connection with the sport.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if fencing had associations with magic, though; most all sword-styles have some sort of magic or spiritual lore that grows up around them. Seeing as how the sport grows out of some of Europe's oldest dueling styles, I'd be amazed if there weren't some sort of magic associated with it at one point or another.
Come to think of it, using some colorful language, a description of a fencing bout would make a great metaphor for the Geburah/Chesed interaction...
