The CDC rates the patch, ring, mini-pills and regular HBC all as 7% "failure rate" with typical use. The NHS rates all of these similarly, as 99% effective (so 1% failure rate) with perfect use, 91% effective (so 9% failure rate) with typical use. Note that this means that out of 100 individuals using said method, they expect 1-9 to get pregnant over an entire year - so ≤9% chance for the year, not each use.
In particular, it sounds like you're concerned about the "Lo" part of your change? Nuvaring was a lower dose than this pill will be. If you're confident enough in the medication to have used Nuvaring without a backup method, and confident enough in your taking the pill around the same time each day to have used the pills before without a backup, this is no more risky than those. That said, there is always some risk, even with a backup method; you get to decide how much risk feels safe to you.
