Ten Rules (Or Less) For Writing Fiction by various authors including Neil Gaiman, Phillip Pullman, Zadie Smith, Joyce Carol Oates, PD James etc., etc.I like how all of them were all, "WRITE, DIPSHIT. Don't just imagine being a writer, actually sit down and write." It's the hardest bit, really. Woe ( Read more... )

Once you cross 1200, I don't think it really matters. You should be safe. All these univs. need is an awesome SOP, trust me! So put all your fanfic skills into your SOP :)

I feel I should start my essay off with "Ron gazed soulfully into Hermione's eyes, lost in their brown depths, wondering how to tell her how he felt. He didn't have her way with words, or Harry's fame, he was just a poor Weasley..."

CAN YOU FEEL HIS MANPAIN?

I know this has been (and will be) told to you a hundred times, but it's worth repeating: your GRE score is but a tiny part of your application. They're usually just trying to make sure you can click the buttons on a computer in a non-random fashion, and aren't going all crazy when presented with a mouse.

So the good news is that your GRE is really A-OK. The bad news is that that means that you need to slog your butt off on the rest of the application.

Serves you right, for dissing Uncle.

Womps! See, I wish they'd just tell me what kind of score they would need with my GPA. All they said was they they looked at a minimum of 1100. Why can't I get guarantees?

Oh, I've been avoiding my application like an avoider (of applications) for a while now- I really need to get down to condensing my goals and dreams into a few pages, and be awesome while doing so. Do you have any advice? Any websites/guidelines you used that were helpful? A fresh off the printer, ready made, kick ass SOP that guarantees me an admission? :D

I'm not going to advise you like I'm the Duke of Admissionsburrough, because (a) I'm only going to regurgitate the spiel that's there out on the internets already; and (b) I'm not even certain what program you're going to be applying to ( ... )

Hi, it's me! I am still here even though I don't update my journal and I still stalk (uhh..I mean read) your journal. Also, still think you are very funny! :)
I think 1300 is a pretty good score and like someone said above: it is a small part of your application. It also depends on where you plan to apply. Planning on coming to the US?

Hey, congrats on the score! It surely is a good score. As mentioned in one of the comments, work it out a bit on the SOP.

Off late I am also stuck with similar probs in my F-list. Need to rejig the list badly, but need time for that as well. Given sufficient time, all problems can be solved. But, the biggest problem is time itself.

At least you can try to post regularly, and thank you very much for doing that! :)
