But I prefer finding the perfect fit by post, to toughening the callouses of my patience and over-crowded toes with the sneering skepticism and lacking inventory of brick and mortar stores.

Fuck yeah...

I mean,
[above] I am cheering you on despite the fact that I continue to find my shoes and garments at thrift shops, swap meets, my apartment's "free couch", and occasionally Target or a venue selling post-department store fare. I've always been frustrated with the shoes that are available to me (in my very tight price range) and the fact that larger shoes seem to have ad hoc sizing: Oh, it's a big shoe. Let's call it a... 9½?

When I was younger [I outgrew my mom's 8½ Wide when I was in the fourth grade] I had wider feet... but now I don't?

And bras, heck, I've almost completely given up on them, says the 32A/AA girl.

A response I got once from my microscopic Hungarian teacher when I told her my shoe size was, "No! That's a man's size!"

Ugh. Salespeople have such a tremendous effect on shopping experience/customer satisfaction and yet many stores seem perfectly happy to hire people with, shall we say it gently, a lacking amount of social skills.

I am fine with people giving me advice when I ask for it, but I hate it when people tell me what to buy. If did not know, I would ask you. If I am not asking you, maybe, just maybe, I have done my own research and looked on your website and I know exactly what I want and just need help locating it in your store? Could that ever happen?

I can never find shoes that fit, either, if it's any consolation. :\

(I have a 4E foot, but a narrow heel. Duck feet.)

hey i have duck feet too. nice little triangle. my roommate has a book called "mutants" -- she says my feet look like those of some pygmies.
