Neither the comment nor your discussion of it align with the meaning of "original sin" as it was taught to me. Original sin is not an act. The first sin was "the Fall". Original sin is the spiritual taint that was passed down to all human beings as a result of the Fall. It is the reason we feel pain, suffer illness, and inevitably die. Even if we lived perfect lives, our souls would require salvation because we are inherently sinful beings. That's the Lutheran interpretation.

sorry, i was being a bit lazy, since 'original sin' as inherited sin is resulted from the originating and original (or first) sin, i.e. the fall.
