Excuse my rambling, but I cannot wait to read the next installment of this, I want to see Kirk redeem himself so badly! I also can't wait to see how Spock's role in this mess will play out. I'm excited about M'Benga awesome too!!! There's just so much to look forward to here :)

Thank you!

I've got another chapter to finish first, but this is nearing its conclusion too. I'm glad you like it!

Yeah, I know I said that Kirk was being an ass in my last post, and that I liked it - which I do! But, you're gonna smack him over the head with a clue by four, right? Because I think Bones really needs him, and needs to know how special he [Bones] is. And, frankly, it would be great for Jim also, taking a responsible, romantic step.

And, eeee, Spock knows! I'd love to see a little of his thoughts on the forced meld, if possible. But, beggars can't be choosers, so I'll happily settle for some more of your fantastic writing.

Don't worry, Kirk will get smacked over the head soon enough. I'm not telling you in which direction the resulting step will go, though. :P

Thanks for the comment!

I cannot help chuckling as I see the chapters growing. BUt hey, I love it, so I will not complain if I get to read 9/10...

And also this poor Kirk, wathcing things get out of his control whie he tries to talk himself into some sense and fonds out that the world no onger revolves around him... it was priceless. It gave me a fuzzy warm feeling to know that at least in this fic Bones has two people taking care of him. It was a relief! I'm really enjoying this fic.

Kirk can be something of a self-centered ass if he sets his mind to it. I actually does make him fun to write at times.

Thanks for the comment! The next chapter has chances of really being the last, though. Hard to tell at this point. But it won't be more than five parts in any case.

This is tense! So much going on in the sidelines, and we can't get to see much more than what Kirk does, and his viewpoint is already biased. I can definitely feel he cares, but his stress is getting him to the point where he's taking his frustration out on others, like thinking suspiciously about the other officers who are just tyring to help McCoy. Very believable, very much in character for Kirk. Awesome that you delve into this rare side to him. Very realistic in how Bones is falling apart, too. Having to work so hard and under such stress. Poor guy!!

I'm so glad you think it's in-character. Kirk does have a tendency to take his frustration out on others - usually random people who happen to be there at the time, or Bones. It'd be good to be Spock...

Hahaha yes! Kirk/Spock angsty sex actually sounds pretty good right now! lol

I've been avoiding fics with Kirk because I had this prejudice against him that he's a typical, therefore boring, "good guy." Like, how could you write him interestingly? He's perfect, he does no wrong, he's awesome. But awesome means no flaws, which means boring.

But I'm learning that's not so. He does have flaws, and one of them (or perhaps this is a strength) is that he covers them so well. As much as I've seen him in action, I still feel like I don't know the first thing about him.

I always saw Kirk as pretty flawed, but perhaps as a Bones-fan that's inevitable, as he and Spock often forget Bones exists. There are a lot of other things too, and while many of them can be atributed to bad writing, some thigns just can't be ignored.
First of all, he can be pretty unfair to those around him if things aren't going his way. Even if occasionally he apologizes for that.

(Also, remember the episode For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky? Bones asked Kirk not to tell anyone of his illness. Five minutes later Kirk tells Spock, even mentioning that Bones probably doesn't want him to know. How much fail was that?)
