Heh. Thank you. The trees are, of course, the simples thing about the while picture. Funny thing: While the guys are wearing armor in the scene depicted, I originally drew them in plain clothes because it was just a quick sketch that no one would see anyway. (And even if they did, I don't plan on actually posting the story, so who cares?) The next day I thought "screw this!", erased the clothes and bothered with the armor (which is a pain), but it still wasn't meant to have a background, and I wasn't going to bother with the wolf. Except then I drew the wolf. And since I had gone that far already, the trees also happened...
So, thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you like that artstic afterthought. :D
Pfft. Don't knock a well-drawn tree, they aren't that easy. *points* I can't do it anything as well as you can do. But I do like hearing your process, it sounds a lot like how I end up doing art. "Okay, I'm just going to do this. ...and maybe add this. And this other thing. Crap."
Such a long time since you wrote that comment - I guess I kind of missed it. That happens to me ocassionally. I'm sorry.
Well, you definitely can write better than I can! I have discovered that you posted what exists of the final part of Arch to the Sky and am finally reading it! :) I so love that story.
Another funny thing about those trees is that I figure out how to do plain background trees many, many years ago for a piece of fanart I was trying techniques from a coloring tutorial on, and my way of drawing them has not changed since. Not one bit. I guess I just don't do backgrounds often enough for them to evolve.
