To be honest, if not for the whole 'shagging the Boy King' thing, I would probably like Ruby a whole lot more. I couldn't figure out why everyone HATED her in S3 anyway; I thought she was an excellent plot device for both brothers (Sam's destiny and Dean's ongoing hatred of all things supernatural) and had the potential to act as a great launching point for a lot of things if not for the writer's strike. My issue with her this season is that she is a a significant wedge between the brothers Winchester and I like my Winchesters un-wedged. Castiel presents the same kind of obstacle, but in a less significant way; Ruby, I think, is much more of a threat to Dean's place in Sam's life (not even taking fanon/wincest into account) than Castiel is to Sam's position in Dean's life ( ... )

Well, first off, I'm very certain that Ruby and Sam are NOT doing the horizontal mombo. The show has gone out of its way this year to bring up the fact to Sam that Ruby is ruthlessly going through meatsuits and that those meatsuits *know* what is going on while they are being held captive. All of this brought up by Meg, none the less. I quite sure Kripke and Co are very well aware of the implications of Rape and at best necrophilia, and would never retcon Sam's person to be so morally defunct. As a matter of fact, they have gone out of their way in S4 to show that Sam is *very* aware of lines he can't cross, and I see in no way any change in Sam's moral compass thus far that would indicate he would participate in Rape or necrophilia. As to the 'things you do in the dark' comment, it is obvious that there are *many* things they can do in the dark that have nothing to do with sex. We saw a very good example: Sam sneaking off in the dark to meet Ruby and exercise his powers in the exorcism of demons ( ... )

I'm not going to hash out the 'are they/aren't they' or the rape argument because I don't want anyone to beat me with the Spoiler or Interviews Aren't Canon sticks and I can't fully present my arguments without bringing those into play ( ... )

It's a damn good show. And by the middle of season 2, the vibes are pretty obvious to the slash-inclined mind. Like, 'registers on the Richter Scale' obvious. I honestly thing that if you sat down and went through the whole first season, you'd be hooked. And this fandom is seriously like a gateway drug to things you NEVER thought you'd read. Like incest. Or RPS.

It is my new crack and has devoured my soul. All my plotbunnies are belong to the Winchesters.

Plus, how can you go wrong with witty, frightening demons and badass, sexy angels and the apocalypse?

*g* And if you watched it, I would have someone else to squee to incessantly!

Re: the initial fodder for my rant, i went and checked out the OP's journal after the comm post go deleted. I think that the chick is really just wanky. *shrugs* One of the pitfalls of life on the interwebz, I suppose.
