He knew what of world was out there - a dog eat dog world as his father claimed. There were different kinds of people out there -the vindictive ones, all out there just to kill, to feed and to live without having a slight sense of guilt pulsing through their veins, coursing through their bloods and thumping on their brains. And then there are the wounded - the innocent prey who struggles each and everyday as if it is a movie premier and they had to hit it big every time. The innocents are never considered safe in this revolving world of greed, envy and death and it was what provoked him to save their lives.
He was once an innocent too - too young to be a man and too old to be a boy - but he acted more mature from other people his age and he knew he had to have credit for that. But he wasn’t fairly sure if credit was what he wanted because three years ago - his innocence was crumpled into pieces.
Three years ago he was happy -life simple as making eggs and bacon - but he was happy. He had a family of his own, a father to talk to, a mother to care for him and a few siblings to play with. But everything vanished with a pull of the trigger and a few men to throw punches their way - the innocence he once had had vanished.
It was three years now if he’d look back. Three months of agony, pain and misery all mixed up to crush him down, to tear him apart and to destroy him but he mastered to over come them one by one. He was now successful if he would consider few achievements he had done to save the blameless, to save him. Three years had passed, yes, but he couldn’t fairly convince his self that he had moved on, he had let go and he had forgotten everything. No, because that was the last thing he’d do.
“Kim Jongwoon. That’s his name, Sir and he’s working alone with all this killing and crimes. He just pay random guy to work with him and kill them after he is done with it. No one was strong enough or brave enough who lived and witnessed Kim Jongwoon’s killings until you came.”
“That is why I’m protected by your squad, isn’t it? Just like how I try to protect my country.” He sighed as he bought two white shaking fingers to flip the pages laid in front of him and he scanned the given details once, twice and then he flipped through another page. “Yesung?”
“That’s the name he lives by. A former lover gave that nickname as suggested by one of his close friends, Sir.” He nodded and eyed his companion and observed there was more to say and he encouraged the latter by nodding again. “Sir Eunhyuk, I think it is safe if you’d be with someone when you decide to give justice to your family’s death.”
He smiled just like he always will when he was being taken care of because honestly, it was the last thing he needed right now. He took the pages and compiled them neatly and gave it back to his companion -who took it willingly - and he straightened his back and squared his shoulders as he look outside.
A sea of people was starting to emerge from outside the coffee shop they were in. He noted a few strangers who lived somewhere in the subdivision he lived by and smiled as they smiled at them. He looked back onto the eyes of his companion and he smiled once again and shook his head.
“These are no video games - it won’t be necessary to have another player when two can play the game.”
Revenge - it was all he needed to accomplish now. And to whom he would apply it? Of course, to the man who killed his once upon a time happy family, Kim Jongwoon.
