009. Coffee, Eunhyuk/Donghae
It was over a cup of coffee when Eunhyuk decided to tell Donghae that maybe what they have today wasn’t what he wanted. No, they weren’t actually official couples or anything but that was what Donghae wanted or voiced out and at first, yes, Eunhyuk was happy because heaven knows how much he adored the latter but then that adoration died with Sungmin’s belief.
“You finally realized you love him.”
It wasn’t a question and surely, Donghae wasn’t stating it so they could talk about something - it was more of a statement, an indictment of what Donghae had observed, seen and felt and yes, for once, Eunhyuk had to give props to what Donghae had said.
“I didn’t know it was like this, that it was supposed to be like this.” Eunhyuk said as he leaned forward onto the kitchen table, his elbows resting on the wooden surface as he buried his face onto his shaking palms. Of course, if he had known since day one that he actually feels something for Sungmin, he wouldn’t be kissing Donghae in Sungmin’s own bed, wouldn’t he? He groaned - a groan that was impelled by annoyance and desperation. “It’s no use though - he wouldn’t even face me let alone talk to me.”
Donghae saw it - the depression in Eunhyuk eyes as the latter lifted his head up and looked right onto Donghae’s orbs. He saw it eat up all of Eunhyuk’s confidence and strength. Donghae sighed and reached towards his companion’s arm so he could at least try to calm him but that simple gesture brought Donghae’s heart to a series of clasping pain and it was normal wasn’t it? It was normal especially when you are trying to calm the boy you love yet you discover he is in love with one of your friends.
“I shouldn’t have told you what I felt, Hyukkie. I knew it all along - your feelings for him and his feelings for you but still, I tried to interfere and I’m sorry.”
Donghae knew and he accepted it, accepted the fact that he was the main reason why this was happening, accepted the blame why both his hyungs were suffering and most of all, he accepted it - he accepted the heart ache he deserved and how he wished - a cup of coffee can drown out the twinge the agony, the glum.
But then, not every problem can be solved with beans, sugar and cream, right?
