Haverford is for ugly people.

But mostly I just sulked.

The handwritten note, by the Dean of Admission, on my rejection letter:

Best of luck, Alyssa--
I feel very badly it
didn't work out here. Let
me know if I can help you
elsewhere. We all know
you're a great person!

true. corinna's convinced it's an uglyschool.

we've only found one person who got in: she's a nyc private school manly-voiced lesbian athlete with a 1200-somethin' SAT score. ewww.

You're the kind of well-adjusted (paraplegic) and capable girl that'll do well in any number of other excellent and fun schools.
Also, the note is cute-- I wish my schools cared!
P.S. When I was a kid I thought "paraplegic" and "paralegal" were interchangeable words.

is "paraplegic" a reference to the ridiculous ethan quote on my userinfo? (the p.s. made me laugh)

i mean, the note raises a question... is it good or bad that he called me a "great person?" the recognition is nice, but does it mean my app really just stank?

Yes. I always thought the quote was appropriate. Ethan is a sharp tack. swaly December 14 2004, 01:40:07 UTC
It probably doesn't reflect on the actual content of your application...I doubt most rejectees get personal notes. The note is probably an indication that a.) the dean wanted you and but the board didn't and the dean couldn't just say, Hey my board is comprised of dumbasses or b.) The dean especially, especially liked you during interviews/visits/whatever and felt that based on personality alone you should've been accepted. (I don't know the terminology, never having done an interview/visit/whatever.) Either way, there's probably no way any of our applications are that bad...we're HUNter kids!

No! You should've shown them the locket.

then the note would have read:

Best of luck, Alyssa--
We all know
you're creepy.

I am so sorry Alyssa. I'm sorry you didn't get in. If you do end up at Oberlin I can see you more often, because I'll only be an hour away! Good luck with wherever you end up.

I'd like to party in Ohio with you next year, too. Guess who else is looking at Wooster? Emily! Good luck with the rest of your apps, and tell me how it goes.
