You have a beautiful and impressive home, Valerius. I'm sure you must have missed being away for so long. I really hope that doing your duty turns out to be a pleasurable and rewarding experience in the long run. For what it's worth, I think you'll do very well and your people will be lucky to have you. I'll miss you.
Grazie. It is very good of you to say this. I suppose, I have missed being away. I miss Italia all of the time, I miss being in a place where I can speak without having to think about every sentence in translation. I think your home country is always special, even if you have not spend very long there. Perhaps even more special because of this. I will miss you too. You must visit, please, when you have time.

I shall come someday.
Probably on a Sunday. Yes, it has a Sundayish sort of feel to it, your house. I will bring bourbons and custard creams, and a great sponge cake as big as your head, with cherries and cream all over the top.
And a unicorn family.
Because that's when I know everything will really be all right, when there are unicorns in the woods and I can ask one family to come with me so that you'll always have that moment of lingering apprehension that makes you think of me.
There's nothing quite like friends, is there?
Most likely though, until that perfect day arrives, I'll be by when you say I can come and I'll bring you a bacon sandwich and get to work on the windows. Because friends are also cheap labor.
I shall miss you. England will be a little bit darker and a little bit colder with you gone. Do be careful and come and visit when you can.

I think I will have preferred it if you said England would be darker and colder when I return. What are you trying to do to my reputation, Luna?
Just my joke, you know it is not like this in reality. I would very much like to see you in Italy. There is so much history I would like to show to you. I know you will be fascinated!
I will visit often too. There is nothing quite like friends. I do not have many, and I do not want many. Those few that I have, I keep close and value a lot. Ah, perhaps I am just being sentimental because I am leaving. Shhh.
I will take you up on the bacon sandwich, and offer real Italian ice cream in return.

It has been a long time. Nearly three years, since Flavius. Almost a year since Alessandra. Time has gone very fast.

Papa,
You mean the world to me, and I will miss you.
You do not have to reply.
Now I can go.
