And what, may I ask, is wrong with tea? It's a very civilised beverage; I'm surprised that the Italians haven't caught on.

I did not say that anything was wrong with tea.
If you like to drink the flowery acqua di colonia with not very little taste, do it. I will always prefer caffè.
You are saying we are not civilized?

Sei tu a Venezia?

Caro, you think tea is boring, and always have. But consider this: if there was no tea, there would be no Padma.

Oggi, sono in Firenze. Avoiding the paparazzi-pazzi. Do we have a dinner tonight?

I have not forgotten. And I know tea is important, but for me, it is still boring.

You are in Firenze? merde! Why you are in Firenze?

Locked to Padma.

There is a problem with Lorenzo Medici. The duchessa will think that you are my spy, if you are seen there.
Please, return to Milano, or Venezia.
Velocemente!

My dear boy, do you really mean you lived in Britain all those years and never deciphered the Weather Code? Come to think of it, that accounts for a great deal...

And I never queue. When I was young, I was far too pretty, when I was in my prime I was far too wily and now I am fat and old I am too cantankerous.

It's good to hear from you, Valerius! I do hope you're sleeping well, with all that coffee. And remember, you're always welcome here too.

There is a code? This is some English joke, si? You are pulling my leg.
It is good to hear from you also, Madame Sprout. I am please to see you still have very much humour.
I never queue. In Italy there is not many queues.
Also, people do not much like to make me to wait. That might be it. I had not given it much thought.

Not sleeping well, but I never did. Is not a problem for me.

I was talking to Susan Bones and realise you can be interested also. In Pavia, I have inherited gardens which you must see. It is possible you have heard of them, though the Medici are more well known in Italia for poisons.

How is mia cara Toyah? She always likes herbolgy.

Ah, the dear girl! She seems well enough, from what I can see. Certainly pays attention in my lessons. For anything else of course you ought to ask Severus.

Poison garden, eh? I was reading about that just now, via Susan's journal. That does indeed sound very interesting. Have you begun to catalogue it?

It sounds as though you are keeping busy. Are you well? Enjoying your Counting, or should that be Duking? All the best to you, and give my regards to Padma also.

Pomona

PS: Am I pulling your leg? Perhaps...and perhaps not!

Thank you. I will ask Severus.

I have not begun to catalogue it, there is very much to be done, here, and not very little time. If you will like to see the garden, perhaps you can come to Pavia, next time, with Severus and Toyah. In the half term. You will be welcome.

I will pass your regards to Padma.

I think there is no such code, si? But now I am not certain. Damn.

The weather is a universal uniter...rain is dreary no matter what part of the world you are in. It is raining here, too.

It is always raining in Britain. Ah, apparently I am insulting to British people. I must stop this.
It is very good to hear from you, Remus. How are you?

Hmmm...well, I have on occasion felt the weather gods were against me when it rained and I really wished for sunshine, but unless you've created some sort of dark cloud that simply hangs perpetually over Britain and dumps rain on our heads, I can't say I perceive the insult myself.

I'm fine, Valerius. Busy. Though perhaps not as busy as you are. I hope that being in charge doesn't prevent you from taking some time for yourself. It seems there should be advantages as well as obligations to your position.

I would have to be very powerful to do that.
I am glad - I do not mean to be insulting. I thought it was humour, but my English is out of practice, since I am speaking Italian all of the time.

Busy is good also. It is busy here, but am taking time for myself - this evening. I have decided to take a night to relax. There should be advantages, you are right. I am still learning all of them.
