Tonight, I am in Venezia. In muggle part of the city, incognito. I am as a tourist, in a small restaurant on Fondamenta Nuove, gazing across the laguna to San Michele, and in distant waters, to Murano. Always I forget, after Milano, how very precious is Venezia. Just the three miles from one side of the city to the other side. You can walk across ( Read more... )

It is strange how everyone has started communicating again all of a sudden.

Almost as if everyone got the notion to use these things all at exactly the same time. Which is actually quite disturbing to consider.

Venice sounds very fascinating. Is transport by boat also the norm in the Wizarding part? Do they have the kind with the blokes in funny hats who sing? Or is that purely a Muggle thing?

Perhaps some strange external force is working, that we have no power over?
That is disturbing yes.

Venezia is like no place else on Earth. And the Wizarding city ah, how can I describe? Is very tradizionale, like maybe three centuries since. Of course there is floo, and apparate, but il gondolieri still transport people across the canals. They are useful, communication - they know everything that happen in the city, so if you want to stay unseen here, do not use a gondola. Same, if you want the city to know your arrival, is better than announcing it over the floo. There is not so much singing, though. In my experience they are very miserable, like storks.
If you want to stay incogito, you can always wear the Bauta, another tradition. It is a mask. But you must to obtain this, officially, from the maschereri.

That sounds fascinating. Real cloak and dagger stuff. Actually a cloak and a dagger might be quite useful, in addition to your Bafta. But I expect you have thought of all that.

The city sounds really beautiful, apart from the miserable storks. Perhaps they would cheer up if they did a bit of singing.

It is a Bauta, but yes. Dagger and cloak, and various vials of poison always useful.

I cannot think of them singing. It is a very strange idea.
