Excerpts from my Tour Journal, November 2008

Jan 30, 2009 12:17

After a breakfast of leftovers, we drove from Eugene to San Francisco. It wasn't a walk in the park, but we did take a walk in the park and met a tiny one-eyed Yeti.

Car playlist included: Ben Lee, Stars, DJ Gyngyvytus, Feist, Gorillaz, Wilco, Mirah, The Beatles, Van Morrison, Beck. I threw some Blackalicious into the Feist playlist, but no one seemed to be in the mood.

Horrible Burger King food was our dinner, and we must have made three coffee stops. We didn't meet a nice conservative coffee lady like Judy today.

San Francisco is swanky and full of crackwhores. Donald is a brilliant, laid-back, ascetic, artsy punkass. So far he has remained shirted. I look forward to cheap food, parks, and more crackwhores tomorrow. Maya is a sweetheart, and the accommodations are spectacular. The guys are drinking beer and playing Settlers, and we took a lovely walk and saw a transvestite earlier. Tour ho!

Donald freed us of our Chocolate Altoid plague by making scones with them. After breakfast, we took a long walk off a short pier, saw kids catching crabs, and are now eating lime garlic cilantro fries at Pat's Cafe. Good coffee here. Good fries. Good company. Gene says "shucks" a lot.

I'm excited for our show tonight. It should be cozy and intimate, not to mention attended by at least three people who want to see it.
