I snagged this one a while back, and I loooves it. Installed Ubuntu to replace the custom Linux build it came with. The solid state hard drive that makes zero noise was an added bonus.
Whatever you do, I'd steer away with the ones small enough to have that really downsized keyboard. Mine is like 95% of the size of a normal one, I hardly notice a difference.

I also have an Asus 1000 running the Ubuntu Netbook Remix. My main complaint is that I have had trouble talking with some WiFi networks with it. Not sure if it a hardware issue or an OS issue. I will agree that the custom Xandros build on the Asus Linux machines is trash.
Not sure how it will handle Vectorworks. Pretty sure there is no Linux version of it or Lightwright, but you can probably run them (or at least the latter of the two) in Wine.

Ahhh yes, if you're tied to Windows on account of any needed programs I suppose that could be a problem. Though one of the things I liked most about getting this particular one was avoiding the "Microsoft tax" on it since I knew I wasn't going to want Windows on it anyway.
Thanks for the input! I've heard 100% from friends that the Asus EEE line is the way to go, and definitely will be going for the solid state hard drive. I am going to stick to Windows due to needing to run certain programs for work, so I'm gonna play around a bit and see if I wanna stick with XP or go for Windows 7 yet...
