PS, a couple of annoyances I need to rant about

In case on one ever heard this before, the humor of nursing students (approximating that of what are are working to become) is rather crude and base. I think I have grown quite sick of it, and wish I could tell the others in my class about this, but I am more concerned that it will cause segregation between them and me. Ah, yes. The Donut Rant.

Been there. Done that. :(

Should've written it down for the stand-up routine. ;)

Yes, I know all about the donut rant. Except this time it's the celiac rant. Funny thing is that all my classmates have stopped offering me things they know I can't have. Today, at the autopsy, one of the students from the other nursing class offered me a donut, and three of my classmates instantly told him I could not have it. *smirks* At least they show evidence of understanding.

*hugs* It's tough when you're not in the same headspace as the people you're working with. /: It's been one of my ongoing problems trying to fit into the working world.

WRT the potluck -- maybe it would help if you brought something of your own that you knew was safe? ... Still, I think it's rather annoying that no one seems to have made the effort to try to include you. ):

While I have debated bringing something in that was safe for me and that I could share, I am not comfortable with leaving something gluten free on a table full of wheat. Utensils get passed between one dish and the next too often, so I would not be confident the thing I brought remained safe after I set it down.

Rather than bother, especially considering the cost of many of the gluten free items available, I just bring my own food and eat ot on a break, after I've been able to wash my hands in case other things being passed around are contaminated on the outsides of the containers, or on papers being passed around. (Yes, I consider my lecture handouts to be contaminated with wheat, and wash my hands after handling them.)
