One cousin shot, another stabbed, a rug I'm never going to be able to get the bloodstains out of, trousers I might yet be able to clean, and two new pieces of jewelry commissioned. I'm not sure what to call this evening. Interesting ( Read more... )

Oh, no! I believe I was speaking to one of the concerned parties about this very sort of thing just before it happened, though I may be wrong.

I feel a little bit bad about that.

Actually, I suspect Valentine to have a similar reaction.

It's not like it's a temptation! One of his cousins mentioned that Valentine has a weakness for the ladies--particularly those that are bad for him. So, since we will be shipboard together soon, I merely promised that it would not be an issue with me. It was one of the easiest promises I've ever made.

No offense meant, Valentine.

Funnily enough, another of his cousins suggested that, were my situation different, I might have wanted to look into the option.

Besides, all Valentine could offer me would be jewelry. As you well know, Charles, I have all I need in that regard, being more of a whiz-bang, high-velocity, loud-explosion sort of girl, what don't need frippery.
