Aware that even though the curfew had lifted, it would behoove her to stay on school grounds, Beka finally got tired of trying to sleep--which was a laugh. She was exhausted from being a hamster, not to mention the odd pattern of bruises. She should be sleeping ( Read more... )

Running about on campus at wee hours, you're bound to find special folks.

Sadly for Beka, she finds Ash. Who fits more of the "sniffs-the-glue" description of special than the more positive definition.

"You keep odd hours, kid." It wasn't much of a greeting. But then again, Ash was three brain cells away from only communicating in grunts and whistles.

Besides, if he tried to arrest her, she could definitely kick his ass.

Ash scowls for a second, and rubs his chin. "I look like who did what with the where now? This is a face that was chiselled out of Roman marble or something, I'll have you know. And a body to match." Ash flexes. There might be a hint of Jack Daniels on his breath.

Okay, more of a stench, really. And the empty bottle at his feet is probably a dead give away too.

Oh, yeah. Definitely not her night. Beka rolls her eyes, "I'm sure it was. Possibly third-rate marble, the kind used to line pathways in gardens."

Although, really, why she was standing here, talking to a man who smelled like her uncle after a deal gone bad, she didn't know.
