[Flooding kept Luke from returning to the uncursed safety of Underground's deep. The villa (located near the Black Market) he retired to before midnight was, for the most part, well out of City range.
Potent curses, however, can reach far.
First 'Mother'; demanding, self-centered, emotionally neglectful, verbally abusive, pill popping bitch. Then another female voice, a kindly sounding one he didn't recognize at all, but in some strange way knew.
Years of practice from tuning out his birth parent (and other equally annoying pathetic individuals) made it fairly easy to shove the dual nagging off into the background. Neither curse induced verbal apparition could gain control of Valentine's mind. Eventually, they turned to berating one another and forgot about him.
Their row did cause a persistent mild headache, though.]
Anyone feeling suicidal, please drown yourself elsewhere. More than enough bodies down here choking the tunnels.
