only a couple weeks late for the end of the world

Okay, this won't be applicable until I stop going ARRRRGH and make a second stab at Nyx (died on the final form with her HP down so far there was no bar, because I was dumb and went too aggressive, but I had the levels and the Personae), but I'm pretty much done with P3. Which means I need something else to play.

Poll What should Sarah play next?

video games, playing games like it's my job

FF9. But I'm a bit biased, it's one of my favorite RPGs. I actually just started a replay today...

I've heard nothing but good things about it, so I don't think you're the only one. XD

It's a lot of fun. :) And has some excellent character interaction/banter. It would be a good choice if you decide you want a total change of atmosphere after P3.

I said Persona 4, unless you're Persona'd out. It has a very different atmosphere from P3.

Dragon Quest VIII and Fire Emblem are good choices, too, though.

I'm trying to decide if I'm Persona'd out or not; I think possibly. Especially with Strange Journey coming out soon, I may be SMT'ed out in general. But they are really good games.

I picked FFVII, although I've never played it, because it's the one I probably know the most about of all the listed games (none of which I have played either).

But, under "Something else," I listed anything from the Zelda series, and a good number of the games are playable on the GC or on the Wii. All in all, it's an action adventure type of series, but it may not necessarily be your bag (the timeline is what drives folks nuts, among other things), so please feel free to ignore. XD

I've played a bunch of the Zelda games -- I usually end up liking them for about the first 3/4, and then wanting to throw the controller at the screen/throw the handheld across the room for the last quarter. Which on the VC would you recommend?

Hahahahah! XD

Well, I would certainly not recommend Majora's Mask because the save system is so frustrating. Wind Waker has the easiest gameplay once you get used to it (at least that's true for me), but Ocarina of Time has the more involved gameplay and story. I guess it depends what about the games made you frustrated with them, specifically.

Mostly I'm not that good at the combat, and sometimes the later bosses kill me repeatedly, even with saving up for whatever the best armor/weapon/potions are.

But I have eventually finished all of the ones I started. They just get a little annoying at times.

As do I -- this isn't all of it in the poll, and you're likewise welcome. If I like the first .hack game whenever I get around to it, I may borrow others.

...and I could have sworn I posted the ungodly long to-do list of games I have to my journal somewhere, but I can't find it.

I will take a look at Paper Mario -- it's part of that huge generation of games between the NES and the PS2 that I missed due to high school and college.

Yeah, I am just kind of obsessive about Playing Things In Order. It took a lot of twitching to play any of the FF games out of order, and they aren't actually the same universe.

I'll probably end up with two on rotation, since FFIX does sound like a nice change of pace but D---- makes faces at watching PS1 or earlier graphics. Whereas .hack is early PS2 but PS2.

More remakes should come out for the DS, darnit. Or the PSP, though I don't have one. Yet. And I should buy the remake of FFV and give up getting around to it on the PS2.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance! It's one of the few games I've ever played where I've found the story and the gameplay equally compelling. I love it to pieces.

I love the FE games; I just keep forgetting about it because I think of them as handheld games. I bought PoR as soon as I got the Wii, but then it's been gathering dust. One of these days.
