OK people, I promise to update with graphics soon! I have made a tutorial again, and am in the process of testing it out and making a bunch of stuff with it. Also, school started, so you know how that goes. basically I'm taking 4 math classes and 1 literacy class. YAY!

buh-bye now.

Hi there! I'm a member of the HTV videocast and harmony podcast communities, and I saw your video on the latest videocast (quite excellent, btw!). I have a question for you, and since I know of no other way to contact you, I'm going to post here (I really hope you don't mind the intrusion): I'm a vidder (mostly with Star Wars vids), and I was wondering how you managed to get some of those wonderful effects in your vid (i.e., blocking out Ginny at the World Cup, the quick, repetitive motion used on Hermione as she walks away from Harry by the lake in GoF, etc.). Do you use a specific vidding program (Ulead, Adobe, etc.)?

Any assistance you can give will be much appreciated. I hope you don't mind me asking! I thought your use of effects in that vid was fantastic, and I'd love to incorporate them into a SW fanvid at some point in the future. Thank you in advance! :)

I use CyberLink Power Director. The affect with the quick repetative motion is achieved by duplicating the first 2-3 frames of the clip a bunch of times, so I just duplicated the whole clip i was using in the timeline, and then cropped all but the last down to the first two frames.

The blocking out is really just a creative use of the picture in picture function. Instead of inserting a new clip in the PiP track, I just insert a plain black JPEG and position it over the part of the clip I want to block out (which mysteriously correlates to the part of the screen where ginny is o.O) :)

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, it's better to e-mail me (it's in my profile), cause I will be sporadic at best about checking my LJ until school calms down a little.
