Yay!

Thanks. See my author's comments below (you beat me to it!) as to why this chapter has been posted so very late.

Why? Why are you pretty sure? I'm the one who asked for a potential death!fic in the Gen Fic Exchange, remember?

If you're right in your assumption, then you may just be right in one of your guesses. You'll have to wait and see.

*evil grin*

Thanks!

Hmm... there is that, I guess.

But, hey, I'm not where I normally am right now. Perhaps I could escape my fate that way? You never know, it might have been my secret plan all along.

I'd like to sincerely apologize to everyone for how late this chapter is. I was going to post it on Monday, but when I turned on my laptop to do so, I got a blue screen with a registry file failure error that I simply could not get past. For a little while I feared that my laptop was dead and that I'd have lost the master file for this fic as well as all of my unfinished fics (there are a lot!). Luckily one of the IT guys at my dad's work volunteered to have a look at it and was able to fix it ( ... )

Yeah, I know. I was doing it for a while, then things happened. But even if I had it backed up, it wouldn't have helped just now as I'm in the States and it's in England.

Oh, no! Why did your dog do that? I hope your son is okay and old enough not to end up with a dog phobia as a result of this.

Yeah, having no warnings and an author who could go the death!fic route does increase the angst factor considerably. I've been on your shoes in other fandoms and never knew which way that author would go. Personally, I enjoy that tremendously as there's so much at stake.

But as for Don, yeah, the potential consequences wouldn't have detered him much considering what he knew would happen if he did nothing. Keane, in a lot of ways, wasn't very smart when he painted Don into this corner. The man has nothing to lose, so he can risk everything quite easily.

Thanks!

Ouch! Yes, that is really bad. My dog Jemaima didn't seem to like little kids too much either, but she only ever snapped, quite deliberately never going near anyone when she did it. The one time where we can close to something was when she'd been bad and I went to slap her on the nose. She made to snap just as I was reaching out. I felt her teeth on my hand but that was it. It didn't break the skin and before I could even fully register what had happened, she was across the room, whimpering and trying to hide herself.

But this, this is quite different. It sounds like a personality change. If it were just a little kid, she might not like other little kids, but she should know Kevin enough to trust him despite what other kids might have done.

Is there any chance she injured her head recently? Or that she might be sick in a manner that could affect her personality? My friend had that with a dog once.

If this turns out to be a death fic, I will be very, very angry. I have a major squick with death fics and especially with death fics involving a major character. That it is also my favourite character would just compound the problem ( ... )

I'm not sure if you saw my conversation thread with Rinne above or not, but my views on character death warnings are explained there. But, basically it comes down to the fact that I hate spoilers of any kind when reading a fic (or book or watching a movie) and something like a character death warning is a spoiler to me as it can take all of the angst out of a fic if you know, one way or the other, how it will end. So much so that I often see no point in reading the fic as a result.

Also, movies and books don't warn for it, so I don't see why fan fic should.

That said, I can and will alert specific readers to things if they want and would be happy to do that for you in the future if you so desire.

As for the whiting out, I don't know how to achieve that on LJ and know it can't be done on FF.N.

I will mail you about this fic and one of my others, so you know where you stand.
