I thought it felt a little familiar. :)
I've been bailed up by a dog, not a pleasant experience so I can relate to this even if I didn't get bitten. And no fault of the dog here either, even if it died for its actions. A dog loves its master unconditionally and just saw Kingsley being attacked. Very sad for the poor dog, but Don really had no choice. Very lucky that Kingsley used the opportunity to escape rather than add himself into the fray.
A fun piece.
NB: paragraph two "...and felt terror flood him as he caught sight..."

And, damnit, I have the sneaking suspicion that I altered flood to flooded at the end just before posting the drabble. Not sure what I was thinking. Thanks!

I kind of love the play on words here: "David's barked "Stay down!" followed the tail end of a struggle and he relaxed," barked and tail...the story is about a dog...hee.
Anyway, thanks for taking the the time...and excellent descriptive action. It's hard to write.
