I thought it was Cursive that was going to be on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight...but it's The Cure. The Curiosa promo sites are confusing. Cool to see The Cure anyway. How much cooler would it have been though to have just seen Cursive at the funkiest, capacity-200, back-door-entrance venue in Fresno just a few hours ago and then tune in to them on ( Read more... )

Did you ever hear Kyuss. It was Josh Homme's band (I think I'm correct here) before QOTSA. I saw them a few times and had a couple albums and they were pretty awesome. Totally heavy, cool shit.

Yeah, I've heard some Kyuss and I'm pretty sure they are less my 'thing' because it seems to be more style-over-substance...the style being typical "stoner rock" I guess. A lot more focus on riffs and the rock aesthetic than on writing good songs. QOTSA is a magical balance of both, I think. Also...from what I understand, Josh Homme didn't sing (only played guitar) in Kyuss, and it's his voice & melodies that MAKE QOTSA. I guess that bass player who eventually became the main collaborator in QOTSA was also from Kyuss. But QOTSA is/was mostly Homme's baby, and he rules.

And yes, Nillo...the bass cabinet is in my possession AGAIN. I always end up taking it home since no one ever wants to claim responsibility for it. In the future, when Andy takes his own car, we should try squeezing it into HIS backseat instead to ensure a safe return to Pine St. I might be around this weekend to drop it off. If not, Monday for sure. I imagine you're dying to fiddle with the new bass head.
