i totally agree on the hit and miss factor of the pixies material. some of their songs absolutely floor me and i could play them on repeat for days, and other songs kinda sound like bullshit in my opinion and are highly annoying to boot. but then i cant really hang with frank black material at all, it gives me a headache...and the last breeders album was rather uninspired considering their earlier albums.

Yeah yeah, interesting that you have the same opinion. I've always been fascinated by the blind, unanimous love for this band...or the idea that they could do no wrong. You can tell that The Pixies themselves don't even seem to get what the fuss is all about either, since I'm sure they rarely calculated anything (musically or otherwise). I think Kurt Cobain started expressing his love of The Pixies and it all snowballed from there...seriously. It's probably that simple. Anyway, Frank Black is a unique artist, no doubt about that...but certainly not without flaw.
