Don't worry--it gets better. It sounds like you went through something similar to my freshman year experience: I felt like I didn't know anyone at Penn, and I was having trouble letting go of my high school friends. A good number of my Penn friends say they experienced this as well. But sophomore year is so much better! The key, as I learned and as it looks like you've learned, is to get involved and be open to meeting new people. Penn kids are super friendly, and if you run into those few who aren't, fuck 'em--they aren't worth your time. When you return sophomore year, you'll have a solid group of friends, and you might even feel as though you're coming home.
hey! ooh I'm so glad to hear that! I'm trying to get even more involved, but I'm not sure how. I was into sports in high school, but I dont think I'm good enough to even play club, I'm not sure...and I was thinking of joining a dance group, but they seem really selective, oh well. But I'm excited for next year when I'll feel a little more comfortable
