i was seriously just about to reply back on how i couldn't wait for you to start writing again. this is so unforunate not only about the writing but your college work and music and everything. my pc crashed recently but somehow i accidentally (luckily) saved all my stuff to one random flashdrive but i know how terrifying and awful it is to think you've (or more terrifyingly so, to have actually) lost so much stuff. i hope you find a way to recover your stuff without spending ridiculous amounts of money, god knows those people don't need it.
I'm glad that you were able to save your data. I never really understood just how awful something like this until it happened, and now I'm utterly paralyzed trying to recover my work. =( And the company gave me a quote of two grand. Uuugh.
technology can be the biggest bitch sometimes, screwing you over when you least expect it. what working college student has two grand just laying around? that's ridiculous, there's really no cheaper place to go? :(
I'm looking around for cheaper places, but they don't offer the guarantee that they'll be able to recover it. (So, I pay, regardless of whether they get the info back or not...which kind of seems like a bad deal to me.)
They work, they don't work, and the worst part is...I totally am hooked onto my mac again. I'm all: "LOOK. INTERNET. AFTER TWO WEEKS? WHAT IS THIS MAGICAL KINGDOM?"
You're right. There are ways to get back some things, but others...I just didn't bother backing up my writing. I only backed up my assignments that were important, but NEVER my writing because it never even OCCURRED to me. No joke. The company just gave me a quote for recovery. It's two grand, which...you know. College budget and everything.
But your post was very helpful. I'm going to try to get music from my iPod onto my iTunes like you suggested. =)
Two grand, they said. And you're so sweet to offer for a collect, but I don't know if it's a worthy cause =) I can't believe I'm so paralyzed without my laptop!!
That's so horrible!!!! :( Poor you! But I guess, sometimes computers can't be helped -_-' I guess I'll never see the ending of this fic (because if I were you, I would have lost hope and *not* want to re-write it again). Though I'll look forward to any sasu/naru work you'll write XD
THIS CRASH? I'M GOING TO OWN IT AND MAKE IT MY BITCH.
I remember the basic plot of my stories, but the chapters in all my stuff are pretty long, so the details I'll have to reinvent I think. Mostly, though: I love "In Good Company" waaaay too much to abandon it. There will be chapters, I swear.
(Also: That dedication one-shot? It's still coming. Your summer still trumps mine in terms of how difficult it is!)
Seriously!? This is so AWESOME! I'll look forward (AWWWWWWWWWW SO FREAKING EXCITED) to both the one-shot and some chapters. And you are right, because In Good Compagny really *is* too good to be abandonned.
Just by curiosity, how long does it normally takes you to write a chapter? 1 week/2 weeks/ ect...? Just wondering XD
The thirteen chapter binge that happened before my mac crashed was because I had a knee injury and was in bed for a really long time, and HAD NOTHING TO DO.
Normally, though, it takes me two weeks to write a chapter that I'm happy with. (I've already started IGC's next chapter...)
I SWEAR. IT WILL BE DONE. Out of spite, I'm going to finish all my stories. Suck it, Apple.
