I am not, and have never been, a huge comic book reader. I have a few I like/am interested in, but I've never gone out looking to buy them regularly ( Read more... )

We have a mini-comic that came with our copy of the movie that you can borrow :D
Oh and we have GI Joe comics, and a smattering of others I pick up when I happen by a comic shop.... I want to start on the Dark Tower ones based on Stephen King's series, and Buffy too :D

You don't need to worry about finding individual issues. All the good stuff is out in trade paperback. If you lived down here you could just do what everybody else does and borrow mine :-)

Start with Jamie Delano's Original Sins, which is the first nine issues of the series. There's a big gap in the trades after that. They pretty much jump straight to Dangerous Habits, then on to Fear and Loathing and Tainted Love. Those four are a very good starting place, and there's plenty more after that if you like what you see.

As far as other suggestions, someone above recommended Ex Machina, which I cannot agree with enough. It's a fantastic book. By the same author (Brian K. Vaughan) is Y: The Last Man, which is also very good.

If you're a Buffy fan, you need to be reading Joss Whedon's Season Eight comics. And if you're an X-Men fan, you NEED to be reading Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men.
