I mean, okay, I didn't master it until I was 13 (the first year we were actually docked points if we spelled stuff wrong... yay Lenhart) but still. We should not go about changing spelling NOW just

I think it's partly due to the government and nature and not just the people that can't spell themselves, though. They didn't create the language; those that did are long dead. Some people are great at math and science but couldn't spell to save their lives. Whatever change they decide to implement must be a slow one or else people will flat out reject it. They'll also have to translate everything worth reading and someday, people will have as much trouble reading this post as old English. Other countries have tried to standardize and simplify their languages but the kids end up having to learn two sets instead of one for many years afterwards because the old people aren't going to give it up without a fight and they don't plan to die any time soon.
