Are raccoons brave or nervy creatures?

extremely! they'll even come into your house, knock over trash cans, fight with your cats and dogs.

though one of the places in downtown san francisco (raccoons are great urban wildlife!), there was one that lived in our backyard, and ate cat food we put out for the neighborhood cats (the former tenant had done that and i worried the cats would starve if i didn't continue - there were probably 10-15 cats). he or she would sit right next to the cats, eating out of the same bowl at the same time. and i'd leave the sliding glass door to the porch open a couple of inches, so he'd reach his paw in and touch my fingers. their paws are almost like monkey hands, very nimble! i would have loved to pet it, but raccoons can be vicious, even tame ones can turn vicious at puberty.

well... even looking small, these (the children) were large cat size. the mother, which got away quicker, was bigger.

it's soo small and skinny! Our racoons look like over stuffed teddybears. None the less very cute.

I know what you mean, I see the little critters here often, and I still say ours are fatter, or at least more furry.
